Keep Your Rental Carpet Looking Great

Cleaning carpet when you’re between renters can be time consuming, but it’s very important that you consistently take the time to do the job.

One of the reasons to consistently clean your rental carpet is simple: the more you clean it, the better it’ll look. If you go too long without cleaning it, you may run into a situation where the carpet becomes so contaminated that the fibers eventually stain and no amount of cleaning will fix the problem.

You have a couple options for cleaning the carpet in your rental. You can hire a professional service, rent a home carpet cleaner, or purchase a carpet cleaner of your own.

Hiring a service is the easiest but priciest option. Owning your own machine can require a lot of money upfront but will pay off if you consistently use it and maintain it so the machine stays in good working order. Renting a carpet cleaning machine saves you the hassle of having to maintain it but can also add up over time.

Whatever option you choose, make sure you use an appropriate level of soap for the job. Most carpets require a healthy dose of soap to really pull dirt from the fibers. It’s also a good idea to go over the areas you’ve cleaned with soap using only straight hot water – this will effectively pull the soap out of the carpet.

When you care for the carpet you have in your rental, it’ll look better and last longer. This is an excellent way to maximize your rental investment potential.
