California Moving Public Utilities Commission Resource

If they fail to either present the booklet directly or make sure that you receive it from some other source, you are entitled to a $100 rebate.
You should make sure that any company you use for moving to California is registered with the California Public Utilities Commission. To find a list of accredited movers from the California Public Utilities Commission, visit their website at Cpuc.ca.gov, click the transportation tab and find "moving companies" on the menu. From the moving companies page, click "list of moving companies" for an alphabetical list of approved California moving companies.
Moving From out of State to California

The site also provides information on approved intrastate moving companies.
Driving Requirements for Those Moving to California From Other States
If you intend to drive in California, you will have to switch over to a California driver's license. You must apply for a new driver's license within ten days of becoming a resident of the state of California. Read the California driver's manual carefully, as some rules of the road may differ from the state from which you move. If you purchased your car out of state, you will have twenty days to register the vehicle in California. Switch to California license plates as soon as you receive them, and avoid unwanted citations or fines.
